Activation Lock, developed by Apple, is a security feature that prevents anyone else from using your device if lost or stolen. Activation Lock itself is automatically switched on when setting up your device within the Find My application. This security feature can be enabled on the following devices
Any MacBook, iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro which feature Apple Silicon or the Apple T2 security chip
Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Watch
Before contacting any ITAD organisation you must ensure that Activation Lock is removed from the assets you wish to trade in. Activation Lock can be removed on the device itself or using a web browser on a different device. Below shows how Activation Lock can be removed from a Mac device.
